P&O Cruises has cancelled a 35-night Caribbean sailing on its ship Ventura, leaving many holidaymakers frustrated.
The cruise was due to leave Southampton on 4 January 2027. It would have visited tropical ports including Barbados, Grenada and Curaçao.
But P&O recently told guests that the cruise will no longer go ahead.
Guests Rebooked on Iona
P&O emailed passengers to explain the change. The company said “operational reasons” forced the cancellation.
To make up for it, they moved everyone’s booking to a similar cruise on Iona, which sails on the same date.
Guests can accept the switch or ask for a full refund.
Many Passengers Disappointed
The cancellation has upset a lot of people. Some had booked the cruise far in advance and made travel plans around it.
Others chose Ventura because it’s a smaller ship compared to Iona. They now feel they’ve lost part of the experience they were hoping for.
Some travellers will now need to change flights or cancel hotel stays.
P&O’s Recent Track Record
This isn’t the first cruise P&O has cancelled. In the last year, the company also pulled voyages on Iona and Aurora — sometimes with just a day’s notice.
In those cases, passengers received full refunds and cruise credit. But many still felt let down.
What’s Next?
P&O says Ventura will now offer three different cruises instead. These will go on sale in June 2025.
For guests staying on the new Iona cruise, the trip will still include Caribbean ports, just on a different ship.
P&O apologised for the change and thanked customers for their understanding.

A 56-year-old man from Luton has been sentenced to five years in prison after orchestrating a fraudulent cruise scheme that scammed over 184 individuals worldwide out of more than £400,000.
Richard Lester, operating under the company Cruise Direct UK Ltd, deceived customers by selling fake cruise vouchers and ‘cruise miles’ between 2009 and 2014.
How the Scam Worked
Lester launched an online platform called ‘Cruisevoucher’, allowing customers to book cruises up to three years in advance. However, instead of securing bookings, he used a Ponzi-style scheme, funnelling money from new bookings to cover earlier ones.
In 2011, he rebranded the website as ‘Cruisemiles’, promoting an exclusive system where customers could buy ‘cruise miles’ to redeem against discounted cruise holidays. He also recruited agents to sell these miles, promising lucrative commissions. However, changes in terms and conditions left many customers unable to redeem their miles, often pressuring them into purchasing more with no guarantee of ever receiving a cruise.
Victims Left Out of Pocket
The fraudulent scheme impacted customers across the UK, USA, Australia, Canada, Japan, Germany, and New Zealand. Many victims spent thousands of pounds on promised cruises that never materialised.
Following an extensive investigation, authorities uncovered the extent of the scam, leading to Lester’s conviction for fraudulent trading and money laundering.

Disney Cruise Line has announced significant changes to the schedule of the Disney Fantasy, resulting in the cancellation of four sailings. These changes are due to an unexpected adjustment in the ship’s dry dock timeline.
The affected voyages are scheduled to depart on 20th October, 2nd November, 7th November, and 12th November 2025. Passengers booked on these sailings have been contacted and provided with alternative options to mitigate the disruption.
Initially, the Disney Fantasy was planned to enter dry dock on 29th September 2025. This maintenance period was to follow its summer season in Europe, where it operated from popular homeports like Barcelona, Rome, and Southampton.
After dry dock, the ship was expected to resume service on 20th October with a 13-night transatlantic crossing from Southampton to Port Canaveral, Florida. This sailing would have marked the ship’s transition to its winter schedule of 4- and 5-night Bahamian cruises.
Refunds and Discounts for Affected Guests
Guests booked on the cancelled sailings are receiving a full refund to their original payment method. In addition to this, Disney Cruise Line is offering a 20% discount on a future booking as compensation.
However, the discount comes with restrictions. It cannot be applied to certain blackout dates, and it excludes maiden voyages of upcoming Disney ships, such as the highly anticipated Disney Destiny. The Disney Destiny is set to debut in Fort Lauderdale in November 2025.
