MSC Cruises Expands Ocean Cay: New Experiences & Longer Pier

MSC Cruises is set to transform the Ocean Cay MSC Marine Reserve with exciting new developments. This expansion promises a host of new experiences for cruise holidaygoers, alongside an extended pier to accommodate two ships simultaneously. Announced on 28th January 2026, these enhancements are expected to be completed by late 2027. The project aims to elevate the guest experience while maintaining MSC Cruises’ dedication to environmental stewardship in The Bahamas.

What’s New at Ocean Cay?

From late 2027, visitors to Ocean Cay will find a wealth of new attractions. The island will feature four new dining venues, increasing the total to seven. These will include a signature specialty restaurant and additional buffet and food market-style options. These new spots will complement existing favourites like Seakers Food Court and the island’s popular food trucks.

Families will enjoy the revamped Seakers Cove, now a dedicated family beach area. It will boast a children’s playground, splashpad, and a ropes course with water elements. Table games such as ping-pong and foosball will be available, along with organised activities and interactive games. This aims to create a fun, multi-generational beach experience.

Relaxation for Adults

For those seeking tranquillity, the new adults-only area, Paradise Sands, will be a highlight. This serene beach spot will offer a peaceful retreat during the day. In the evening, it will transform into a venue for sunset cocktails and relaxation. Additionally, the number of cabanas available for rent will increase, providing more options for private beachside relaxation.

Engage with Marine Conservation

A new Marine Conservation Experience will be introduced as part of the MSC Foundation’s Shifting Perspective initiative. This hands-on experience will allow guests to engage with marine conservation efforts. Activities will include coral restoration, scientific research, and interactive exploration of ocean ecosystems.

Pier Extension and Future Plans

Construction is already underway to extend Ocean Cay’s pier. Once completed in late 2027, it will accommodate two ships at once. This means more guests can easily come ashore without needing tender boats. MSC Cruises is also working on a second private island nearby, promising even more exciting developments in the future.

These enhancements at Ocean Cay MSC Marine Reserve are set to redefine the cruise experience. With new dining options, family-friendly areas, and conservation activities, there’s something for everyone. Whether you’re seeking adventure or relaxation, Ocean Cay will be a must-visit destination on your next Caribbean cruise.
