Disney Cruise Line has made a splash in Southeast Asia with the christening of its newest ship, Disney Adventure, in Singapore. This marks a significant milestone as it’s the first Disney ship to homeport in the region and the largest in their fleet. The grand ceremony took place on 4th March 2026, inside the Walt Disney Theatre aboard the ship.
A Dazzling Ceremony
The christening event was a spectacle of live music, theatrical storytelling, and star-studded appearances. Guests were treated to a unique blend of regional talent and international stars. A 23-piece orchestra set the stage, accompanied by renowned performers like Jed Madela and Eurovision sensation Dami Im. The performance featured a medley of beloved Disney, Pixar, and Marvel tunes, enhanced by stunning video effects.
Familiar Faces and Special Guests
Captain Mickey Mouse and Captain Minnie Mouse made special appearances, delighting fans as the ship prepares to welcome guests from across Asia. Senior Disney executives, including Josh D’Amaro, Chairman of Disney Experiences, and Joe Schott, President of Disney Signature Experiences, were present to celebrate this milestone.

Josh D’Amaro highlighted the significance of this event, stating, “The Disney Adventure represents a new chapter for Disney Cruise Line.” He emphasised the ship’s role in introducing Disney magic to new audiences in Asia, offering unforgettable experiences and creating unique memories.
Star-Studded Blessing
Hollywood actor Robert Downey Jr. served as the ship’s Godparent, adding a touch of stardom to the proceedings. He praised the creative efforts behind the vessel and conducted the formal christening. With a nod to the orchestra, he declared, “You bring the theme and I’ll bring the thunder,” before blessing the ship with the traditional words.
A Joyous Conclusion
The ceremony concluded with a burst of confetti and a company-wide rendition of “Let’s Set Sail.” This longstanding Disney Cruise Line tradition marks the beginning of a new journey. The Disney Adventure is set to bring joy and enchantment to destinations across Asia, offering a magical experience for all who sail on her.
