Carnival Encounter Back in Brisbane After Singapore Dry Dock Upgrade

Carnival Encounter Returns to Brisbane with Exciting Upgrades

Carnival Encounter has made a triumphant return to Brisbane, Australia, after a transformative 17-day dry dock in Singapore. This extensive refurbishment has breathed new life into the ship, enhancing everything from its exterior to its leisure and dining spaces. The 109,000-gross-ton vessel underwent these changes from 16th February to 5th March, before embarking on a one-way journey back to Queensland. On 20th March, she was warmly welcomed back to her year-round homeport.

Striking New Look

One of the most noticeable updates is the ship’s new hull design. Carnival Cruise Line’s signature red, white, and blue livery now adorns the vessel. This design first appeared on the Mardi Gras in 2021 and has since become a hallmark of the Carnival fleet. This visual transformation is more significant than the rebranding that occurred when Carnival Encounter transitioned from P&O Cruises Australia to Carnival Cruise Line in early 2025.

Enhanced Leisure and Outdoor Spaces

The dry dock has introduced several Carnival favourites to the ship. Guests can now enjoy the Cloud 9 Spa thermal suites, which offer saunas, steam baths, and heated loungers. Outdoor areas have also seen significant upgrades. All five pools have been revitalised, and the seven whirlpool tubs have been replaced. The Twin Racer slides on Deck 16 have been polished for a smoother, faster ride. Additionally, the basketball court has been resurfaced with new hoops and netting, providing a refreshed activity space for families and groups.

Expanded Dining Options

Dining on Carnival Encounter has been enhanced with the addition of Bonsai Sushi Express on Deck 5. Located beside Cherry on Top, this venue offers a variety of grab-and-go options, including sushi, sashimi, salads, and poke bowls. While these additions are exciting, guests can also look forward to the upcoming Fahrenheit 555 steakhouse, set to open in early May 2026.

Exclusive Entertainment for Australian Sailings

Carnival Encounter’s entertainment offerings have been refreshed with two exclusive productions for Australian sailings: “Rock Revolution: Summer of 69” and “Broadway Beats.” The ship has also introduced “Dear Future Husband,” a show that debuted on Carnival Jubilee in 2023. Alongside these new productions, guests can still enjoy familiar onboard entertainment such as comedy shows, trivia, and interactive activities.

More Carnival Staples Onboard

Throughout the ship, passengers will find more of Carnival’s signature features. These include youth clubs, Fun Shops, the Seaside Theater, and around a dozen bars. These enhancements ensure that guests have a memorable and enjoyable cruise experience.

Carnival Encounter’s return to Brisbane marks a new chapter for the ship, offering UK cruise holidaygoers an exciting and refreshed experience. Whether you’re drawn to the new dining options, enhanced leisure spaces, or exclusive entertainment, there’s something for everyone on board.
