Norwegian Luna Christened in Miami: New Flagship Begins Cruises

Norwegian Luna Joins the Fleet

Norwegian Cruise Line has proudly introduced its latest ship, Norwegian Luna, into service. The christening ceremony took place in Miami on 27th March 2026. This event marks a significant milestone for the cruise line’s growing fleet.

Christening Ceremony Highlights

The ceremony was held at Terminal B, known as the Pearl of Miami. This LEED Gold-certified facility hosted over 2,000 guests. Attendees enjoyed speeches from company leaders and witnessed the traditional bottle-breaking ceremony.

A Unique Godmother

Breaking from tradition, Norwegian Cruise Line chose street artist ELLE as the ship’s godmother. ELLE also designed the ship’s hull artwork, titled “La Luna.” This piece offers a dreamlike view of humanity’s connection to the moon.

Onboard Attractions and Entertainment

Built by Fincantieri in Italy, Norwegian Luna is part of the Prima Plus class. It follows the launch of Norwegian Aqua in 2025. The ship features the Aqua Slidecoaster, the longest and fastest dual slides at sea.

Family entertainment is a highlight with Luna Midway. This area combines carnival games with attractions like the Moon Climber obstacle course. Horizon Park offers outdoor lawn-style activities.

Diverse Dining and Shows

Dining on Norwegian Luna is a culinary adventure. With 17 venues offering 15 types of cuisine, there’s something for everyone. Entertainment includes “Elton: A Celebration of Elton John” and “HIKO: Innovation Meets Wonder.”

Late-night options have expanded with new shows at The Improv at Sea. The original production “LunaTique” adds to the vibrant nightlife.

Early Sailings and Future Plans

Though officially christened in March, Norwegian Luna began operations earlier in the month. The ship is set to offer exciting itineraries for UK cruise holidaygoers. Keep an eye out for its upcoming voyages.
