A Georgia man has been arrested and charged with felony child abuse after allegedly striking two children who were playing tag aboard Carnival Glory during a Bahamas cruise.
The 44-year-old was taken into custody by Brevard County Sheriff’s Office upon the ship’s return to Port Canaveral on 27th July 2026.
The alleged assault took place on 26th July 2026, during a three-night round-trip Bahamas sailing from Port Canaveral. According to court records, David Crosby II was running down a hallway with a group of children who were playing tag when he abruptly stopped and turned around.
Crosby then allegedly struck two of the children – one in the face and another in the stomach. The first child sustained a bloody lip and head pain, whilst the second suffered stomach pains from the blow.
Security cameras aboard the 110,000 gross-tonne vessel reportedly captured the incident on video. This footage has become key evidence in the case against the Georgia resident, who was arrested the following morning when the ship docked.
Carnival Glory’s Itinerary And Timeline
Carnival Glory had embarked from Port Canaveral on 24th July 2026 for what was meant to be a relaxing three-night getaway to the Bahamas. The sailing included a visit to Carnival’s newest private destination, Celebration Key, on 25th July, followed by a sea day on 26th July when the alleged assault occurred.
The ship returned to Port Canaveral early on the morning of 27th July, at which point law enforcement was waiting to take Crosby into custody. Carnival Glory is one of the cruise line’s popular Conquest-class ships, capable of carrying approximately 2,980 passengers at double occupancy.
The vessel regularly operates short Bahamas itineraries from Port Canaveral, making it a popular choice for families seeking quick cruise holidays. Following the incident and arrest, Carnival Glory departed Port Canaveral that same day on a four-night round-trip Bahamas cruise, with scheduled stops in Nassau and Celebration Key before returning on 31st July.
Alleged Perpetrator’s Response And Arrest Details
When questioned by authorities, Crosby offered no clear motive for his alleged actions against the children. According to reports from WESH 2 News, the 44-year-old told officials that he was heavily intoxicated at the time of the incident and claimed to have no memory of what transpired.
However, his arrest affidavit notably indicates that investigating officers did not suspect him of being under the influence of alcohol at the time. This discrepancy between his claims and the official observations raises questions about his defence strategy moving forward.
The Brevard County Sheriff’s Office formally charged Crosby with one count of felony child abuse without great bodily harm and one count of simple assault. He was processed through the Brevard County booking system and subsequently released on 28th July after posting a $20,000 bond.
