Carnival Cruise Line has announced a major deployment change for Carnival Jubilee. The cruise line’s newest and largest ship is set to begin regularly operating 4- and 5-night cruises from Galveston, Texas, beginning in 2028.
The move represents a significant shift from the vessel’s current programme of primarily weeklong voyages. It positions the 183,521-gross-tonne Excel-class ship as Carnival’s largest vessel ever to sail short cruises.
Bookings for the 2028-29 Texas season opened on 17th September 2026. This revealed the strategic repositioning of Carnival Jubilee into shorter itinerary options.
The 5,362-passenger ship will now offer guests more flexible departure schedules. It significantly reduces sailing durations compared to the traditional week-long Caribbean voyages that have defined its deployment since the vessel’s debut in December 2023.
The introduction of these shorter sailings reflects industry-wide trends. Cruise lines have increasingly deployed their newest and most amenity-rich vessels on brief getaways.
This strategy aims to attract both first-time cruisers seeking a low-commitment introduction to cruising. It also appeals to experienced guests looking for quick escapes without the time investment of longer voyages.
Western Caribbean Itineraries Dominate New Programme
The primary offering in Carnival Jubilee’s revised deployment consists of 4-night Western Caribbean sailings. These will feature visits to Cozumel, Mexico, alongside two sea days.
Carnival has released 20 departure dates for this itinerary, spanning from 27th April 2028 through 26th April 2029. This provides guests with consistent availability throughout the peak cruising season and beyond.
The 5-night Western Caribbean option expands the destination portfolio with calls at both Cozumel and Progreso. This offers passengers exposure to two distinct Mexican ports.
With 42 of these 5-night sailings currently available for booking, departure dates extend from 17th April 2028 through 30th April 2029. This makes this the most frequently offered itinerary in Jubilee’s new schedule.
The addition of Progreso provides access to Mayan archaeological sites. It offers a different cultural experience compared to the heavily touristed Cozumel.
Limited Longer Voyages Still Available
While shorter cruises dominate the new schedule, Carnival has not entirely eliminated longer sailing options from Carnival Jubilee’s deployment. However, these extended itineraries have been dramatically reduced in frequency compared to the ship’s current predominantly 7-night programme.
A single 6-night sailing has been made available, departing Galveston on 29th October 2028. This voyage calls at Cozumel and Isla Tropicale, Carnival’s private destination in Roatan, previously known as Mahogany Bay.
