Princess Cruises is expanding its premium Sanctuary Collection experience to five Royal Class ships as part of a major fleet modernisation programme, the line has confirmed.
The enhanced resort-style offering, which debuted aboard Sun Princess and Star Princess, will roll out across Royal Princess, Discovery Princess, Enchanted Princess, Regal Princess and Sky Princess between January and June 2027. The expansion marks the first phase of a multi-year initiative to upgrade the cruise line’s fleet with exclusive spaces, elevated dining venues and personalised service for suite and select stateroom guests.
The Sanctuary Collection represents Princess Cruises’ answer to the growing demand for more exclusive, resort-style experiences at sea. When the concept was first introduced aboard Sun Princess – the first of Princess’s new Sphere Class vessels delivered in February 2024 – it was designed to create an intimate, boutique-hotel atmosphere within the larger ship environment.
The collection bundles together premium accommodations with access to private spaces, dedicated dining venues, and enhanced service that mirrors the personalised attention found at luxury resorts ashore. By bringing this concept to the Royal Class vessels, Princess is acknowledging that passengers across its fleet – not just those sailing on the newest ships – are seeking elevated experiences that justify premium pricing.
The Royal Class ships, which include Royal Princess (2013), Regal Princess (2014), and the newer vessels in the series, represent some of Princess’s most popular tonnage. Each vessel carries approximately 3,560 passengers at double occupancy and features the line’s signature features including the SeaWalk glass-floored walkway and Movies Under the Stars.
Exclusive Sanctuary Club Offers Private Retreat At Sea
Central to the expanded Sanctuary Collection is the introduction of dedicated Sanctuary Club spaces aboard each of the five Royal Class ships. These private areas will feature comfortable lounge seating, social spaces designed for mingling with fellow collection guests, and personalised service from dedicated staff members.
The club concept creates a members-only atmosphere that separates collection guests from the general passenger population, offering a quieter, more refined environment. This approach follows industry trends where cruise lines including Norwegian Cruise Line with The Haven, MSC Cruises with the Yacht Club, and Royal Caribbean with Suite Class have created exclusive zones for premium accommodation guests.
Each Sanctuary Club will include a dedicated pool area with upgraded loungers that promise more comfort than the standard pool deck furniture. Shaded cabanas will be available for an additional cost, allowing guests to reserve private poolside retreats for the day.
Curated food and beverage service will be delivered directly to guests’ loungers, eliminating the need to queue at buffet
