Carnival Cruise Line has confirmed that Platinum loyalty members on three upcoming cruises will lose access to several benefits, despite the company introducing a new rewards programme less than two months ago.
Passengers sailing aboard Mardi Gras, Carnival Legend and Carnival Pride have been informed that certain priority services will be suspended because of the unusually high number of Platinum members booked on their voyages.
The affected departures take place on 31st October and 1st November 2026, with guests losing privileges normally associated with their loyalty status.
The announcement raises further questions about whether Carnival Rewards, which replaced the former VIFP Club on 1st September 2026, will eventually resolve the operational difficulties associated with having large numbers of high-tier loyalty members on individual sailings.
Which Benefits Are Being Removed?
Carnival has advised affected Platinum passengers that they will be unable to use several services normally included with their membership.
These include priority embarkation and disembarkation, early access to staterooms, priority luggage delivery and the Drop and Go luggage service.
The cruise line has also warned that priority assistance at Guest Services, including dedicated telephone and queue services, may not be available.
Carnival attributed the restrictions to the number of eligible passengers travelling on the affected departures, along with the practical demands of preparing ships for their next voyages.
In particular, the company pointed to the limited time available for housekeeping teams to prepare cabins between sailings.
In its communication to passengers, Carnival stated:
“These operational changes are consistent with other voyages where we have a very large number of Platinum guests. We apologize for any disappointment and thank you for your understanding,”
The restrictions will apply to three different itineraries, ranging from a week-long Caribbean cruise to a transatlantic crossing.
Mardi Gras is scheduled to depart Port Canaveral on 31st October for a seven-night Caribbean sailing. Its itinerary includes Grand Turk, Amber Cove in the Dominican Republic, RelaxAway Half Moon Cay and Celebration Key, with the ship returning to Florida on 7th November.
On 1st November, Carnival Legend will begin a 15-night transatlantic crossing from Civitavecchia, Italy, to Tampa, Florida. The voyage includes calls at Cartagena and Malaga in Spain, Gibraltar and King’s Wharf in Bermuda.
Carnival Pride is also scheduled to depart on 1st November, setting sail from Baltimore on a 14-night round-trip Southern Caribbean itinerary.
That cruise includes visits to St. Thomas, St. Maarten, St. Kitts, Aruba, Curaçao and Amber Cove.
Although passengers will still be able to take their booked cruises, Platinum members on these departures will not receive the full range of priority services they would ordinarily expec
