Another Cruise Cancelled After Container Ship Collision

TUI Cruises has cancelled a second sailing aboard Mein Schiff 3 as repair work from the vessel’s collision with two container ships in late October continues longer than initially anticipated.

The 14-night Norway cruise scheduled to depart on 14th November 2026 has been scrapped, with the ship now expected to resume operations on 28th November 2026.

The German cruise line announced on Thursday, 5th November 2026, that Mein Schiff 3 has been undergoing assessment and repairs at Lloyd shipyard in Bremerhaven since Sunday, 1st November 2026.

According to the company’s official statement, the extent of damage has proven more complex than initially estimated, requiring additional time to complete necessary repair work.

The now-cancelled “Enchanting Norway” voyage was planned as a roundtrip itinerary from Bremerhaven, visiting several spectacular Norwegian ports including Nordfjordeid, Narvik, Honningsvåg, Tromsø, and Ålesund.

Passengers who had booked the 14-night sailing will undoubtedly face disappointment, though the cruise line has emphasised that guest and crew safety remains paramount throughout the repair process.

Details Of The October Collision Incident

The incident that triggered these cancellations occurred on Sunday, 25th October 2026, when Mein Schiff 3 attempted to depart Bremerhaven amid challenging windy conditions.

During the departure manoeuvre, the 99,526-gross-tonne cruise ship collided with two docked container vessels in what would become a significant maritime incident requiring extensive repairs.

The first impact involved MSC Anne F and resulted in relatively minor damage.

However, the second collision with MSC Victorine proved far more serious, causing substantial damage to multiple areas of the cruise ship.

The starboard bridge wing sustained significant impact damage, whilst several lifeboats and their associated operational cranes were completely destroyed.

The vessel’s hull also suffered damage during the incident, though all reported damage remained above the waterline.

MSC Victorine sustained a significant gash along her hull, along with damage to container guides.

Fortunately, despite the severity of the collisions, no injuries were reported amongst crew members or port personnel.

Immediate Aftermath And First Cancellation

Following the collisions, Mein Schiff 3 returned to the dock for initial assessment before being relocated to facilitate comprehensive repair work.

TUI Cruises moved quickly to cancel the 20-night Canary Islands voyage that the ship was scheduled to begin that same evening, representing the first casualty of the incident.

The cruise line’s rapid response demonstrated the seriousness with which they approached the situation.

Rather than attempting quick fixes that might allow the vessel to sail with minimal delay, TUI Cruises opted for thorough assessment and proper repairs, prioritising passenger safety over commercial
