  • Why Cruise Ship Weddings Are Surging

Why Cruise Ship Weddings Are Surging

P&O Cruises has experienced a remarkable rise in couples choosing to tie the knot aboard their luxurious ships, marking a record-breaking year for weddings at sea. Over the past year, the cruise line has seen a 12% increase in weddings and vow renewals compared to the previous year.

This trend is expected to continue into 2025, coinciding with P&O Cruises’ 20th anniversary of hosting weddings at sea. The cruise line offers wedding packages across its entire fleet, including its newest ships, Arvia and Iona, as well as the flagship Britannia. These packages start at £3,420 in addition to the standard cruise fare.

The packages are designed to provide couples with a seamless and unforgettable wedding experience. Highlights include professional hair and make-up services, a private ceremony conducted by the ship’s captain in an exclusive venue onboard, and all necessary legal formalities. After the ceremony, couples can celebrate with their loved ones through speciality dining options, with four-course menus available from £28 per person.

Cruise weddings also present a cost-effective alternative to traditional land-based ceremonies. The average cost of a UK wedding is estimated to be around £20,000, whereas P&O Cruises’ packages allow couples to celebrate their big day in a stunning maritime setting while combining their wedding and honeymoon into one extraordinary experience.

Millennial couples, in particular, are showing a growing interest in this unique way of saying “I do.” The combination of picturesque ocean backdrops, the convenience of an all-inclusive celebration, and the opportunity for family and friends to join in on an extended holiday make cruise weddings increasingly popular among younger generations.

P&O Cruises is not alone in offering weddings at sea. Other cruise lines also provide packages catering to a variety of tastes and preferences. For instance, Princess Cruises specialises in lavish ceremonies for large wedding parties, while Celebrity Cruises is well-suited for legal same-sex weddings. Holland America Line offers land-based ceremonies in scenic destinations, and Royal Caribbean is known for its diverse options for destination weddings. Norwegian Cruise Line provides extensive customisation for ceremonies, while Cunard delivers traditional glamour for a more intimate and elegant celebration.

The rising popularity of cruise weddings reflects a broader trend in travel, where couples seek unique and memorable experiences that combine their ceremony with the thrill of exploring new destinations. As more cruise lines enhance their wedding offerings, the variety of options available continues to expand, making it easier than ever for couples to create a personalised and extraordinary wedding day.

For those considering a wedding at sea, thorough research is key. Couples should compare packages offered by different cruise lines, taking into account the destinations visited, the size and style of the ship, and the specific services included in the package. It’s also essential to factor in any additional costs to ensure there are no surprises along the way. With careful planning, couples can find the perfect cruise wedding experience to suit their vision and budget.

In conclusion, the growing trend of weddings at sea marks a shift toward more personalised and adventurous celebrations. With comprehensive packages that often prove more affordable than traditional ceremonies, and the added allure of travelling to multiple destinations, it’s no wonder more couples are choosing to exchange vows on the open seas. For anyone dreaming of a unique, romantic, and unforgettable wedding, saying “I do” on a cruise could be the perfect choice.

  • Major Disney Cruise Cancellations: What You Need To Know

Major Disney Cruise Cancellations: What You Need To Know

Disney Cruise Line has announced significant changes to the schedule of the Disney Fantasy, resulting in the cancellation of four sailings. These changes are due to an unexpected adjustment in the ship’s dry dock timeline.

The affected voyages are scheduled to depart on 20th October, 2nd November, 7th November, and 12th November 2025. Passengers booked on these sailings have been contacted and provided with alternative options to mitigate the disruption.

Initially, the Disney Fantasy was planned to enter dry dock on 29th September 2025. This maintenance period was to follow its summer season in Europe, where it operated from popular homeports like Barcelona, Rome, and Southampton.

After dry dock, the ship was expected to resume service on 20th October with a 13-night transatlantic crossing from Southampton to Port Canaveral, Florida. This sailing would have marked the ship’s transition to its winter schedule of 4- and 5-night Bahamian cruises.

Refunds and Discounts for Affected Guests

Guests booked on the cancelled sailings are receiving a full refund to their original payment method. In addition to this, Disney Cruise Line is offering a 20% discount on a future booking as compensation.

However, the discount comes with restrictions. It cannot be applied to certain blackout dates, and it excludes maiden voyages of upcoming Disney ships, such as the highly anticipated Disney Destiny. The Disney Destiny is set to debut in Fort Lauderdale in November 2025.

    About Disney Fantasy

The Disney Fantasy is one of Disney Cruise Line’s most iconic vessels. This 129,750-gross-ton Dream-class ship debuted in 2012 and has since been a favourite among families.

With a capacity for 2,500 guests at double occupancy and a maximum of 4,000 passengers, it is well-equipped to provide unforgettable holiday experiences. The ship features a crew of over 1,400 international staff, ensuring Disney’s signature magic and service at sea.

    Revised Transatlantic Itinerary

Disney Cruise Line has confirmed plans for a revised 13-night transatlantic sailing aboard the Fantasy. This sailing will be available for booking from 6th February 2025.

While specific details about the updated itinerary have not been released, the original route included stops in La Coruña and Vigo in Spain, as well as Ponta Delgada in the Azores. It is expected that the revised voyage will feature similar destinations.

This rescheduled transatlantic journey will bring the Disney Fantasy back to its homeport in Port Canaveral, Florida. From there, it will resume its regular itineraries to the Bahamas.

    Possibility of Additional European Sailings

It is not yet clear if new European sailings will be introduced before the rescheduled dry dock period. The change could present an opportunity for additional cruises in the region, which would delight fans eager to sail closer to home.

Alternatively, the extended dry dock might reflect the need for additional maintenance or upgrades. Longer maintenance periods can also be attributed to labour shortages or increased work demands at the shipyard.

Guest Reactions and Dry Dock Impact

Dry dock delays and schedule changes are not uncommon in the cruise industry. However, the cancellation of multiple sailings is rare, particularly when it impacts as many as 27 days of planned itineraries.

Guests affected by these changes will undoubtedly be disappointed, especially those who planned to enjoy the ship’s European routes or its transatlantic crossing.

Fortunately, Disney Cruise Line’s full refunds and the offer of a discounted future cruise provide some consolation for the disruption. The company remains committed to ensuring guest satisfaction despite the unexpected adjustments.

  • Princess Cruises Cancels and Changes Sailings: What You Need to Know

Princess Cruises Cancels and Changes Sailings: What You Need to Know

Princess Cruises has announced several changes to its upcoming itineraries, including cancellations and alterations affecting multiple voyages. The decision comes as the company adjusts its deployment strategy and operational plans for the near future, impacting passengers who have already booked their dream holidays.

If you’ve booked or are considering a Princess Cruise, here’s what you need to know about the changes and how they may affect your travel plans.

    Cancellations and Altered Itineraries

Several sailings for the 2025 season have been cancelled or modified, including voyages aboard ships like the Diamond Princess and the Royal Princess. These changes reflect a broader adjustment to Princess Cruises’ deployment strategy, which aims to better align its fleet with demand across key markets.

    Specific Changes Include:

    • Diamond Princess: Multiple Asia sailings in early 2025 have been cancelled, with the ship being repositioned to another region.
    • Royal Princess: Alterations include changes to embarkation ports and revised itineraries for select sailings.
    • Other Voyages: Some shorter itineraries in the Caribbean and Alaska have been modified to accommodate ship redeployments.

Passengers affected by these changes have been notified directly by Princess Cruises, with details about alternative options or refunds.

    Why the Changes?

Princess Cruises has cited operational reasons and market demand shifts as key drivers behind these decisions. Adjusting ship deployments allows the company to maximise efficiency and meet passenger preferences in regions with higher demand, such as Europe and North America.

In recent years, the cruise industry has faced various challenges, including fluctuating booking patterns and the ongoing recovery from the pandemic. These factors have prompted cruise lines to become more agile in their planning, ensuring their fleets are optimally positioned to meet passenger expectations.

What This Means for Affected Passengers

For passengers whose cruises have been cancelled or altered, Princess Cruises is offering several options to minimise disruption:

    • Full Refunds: Guests can opt for a full refund of their cruise fare, including any pre-paid excursions or packages.
    • Future Cruise Credit (FCC): Passengers may choose to rebook on an alternative sailing and receive a credit towards future travel.
    • Assistance with Rebooking: The cruise line is providing personalised support to help passengers find alternative voyages that fit their schedules.

If you’ve been affected, check your email for detailed instructions from Princess Cruises. Their customer service team is also on hand to assist with any concerns or questions.

Tips for Cruise Passengers Amid Schedule Changes

With cruise lines becoming more dynamic in their operations, passengers can take proactive steps to minimise inconvenience:

    1. Check Itineraries Regularly: Cruise lines may make updates even after bookings are confirmed. Stay informed by regularly reviewing your booking details.
    2. Book Flexible Travel Options: When arranging flights or accommodation, opt for refundable or changeable tickets to account for unexpected changes.
    3. Purchase Travel Insurance: Comprehensive insurance can cover additional costs incurred due to cancellations or schedule changes.
    4. Stay in Contact: Ensure your email and phone number on file with the cruise line are up to date, so you’re notified promptly about any changes.

    Looking Ahead

While cancellations and changes can be disappointing, they also highlight the cruise industry’s commitment to adapting to evolving market conditions. Princess Cruises continues to be a trusted choice for millions of passengers, offering innovative itineraries and world-class service.

As the industry moves forward, flexibility remains key for both cruise lines and passengers. By staying informed and prepared, travellers can ensure a smooth and enjoyable experience, even amid unexpected changes.

  • The Best Cruise Line for Wildlife Spotting in 2024

The Best Cruise Line for Wildlife Spotting in 2024

Fred. Olsen Cruise Lines has marked a significant milestone in 2024 by recording 9,500 wildlife sightings during its voyages. This achievement underscores the cruise line’s dedication to showcasing the natural world to its passengers while fostering sustainable tourism. From marine mammals to birdlife, the sightings highlight the diversity of ecosystems visited on their itineraries and the enriching experiences offered to passengers.

A Year of Remarkable Wildlife Encounters

Throughout 2024, Fred. Olsen’s cruises traversed diverse regions, offering passengers a front-row seat to nature’s wonders. Wildlife sightings were reported from both familiar local waters and more remote global destinations, including:

    • Dolphins and Whales: Regularly sighted off the coasts of Scotland, Iceland, and the Canary Islands, these marine mammals delighted passengers with their playful displays and majestic breaches.
    • Seals and Sea Lions: Frequently observed basking on rocky shores or frolicking in coastal waters.
    • Birdlife: From puffins in the Arctic to gannets off British shores, birdwatching opportunities were abundant.
    • Unique Ecosystems: Expeditions to locations like the Amazon and Arctic yielded sightings of exotic species, including pink river dolphins and polar bears.

These observations were logged by onboard naturalists and passengers, contributing to a deeper understanding of the ecosystems visited.

    Small Ships and Close Encounters

One of the key factors in Fred. Olsen’s success with wildlife encounters is its fleet of smaller ships. Vessels such as the BalmoralBolette, and Borealis are designed to access areas that larger cruise ships cannot reach. This approach allows for:

    • Closer Wildlife Viewing: Passengers can enjoy more intimate experiences with wildlife in their natural habitats.
    • Eco-Sensitive Navigation: Smaller ships have a lighter environmental footprint, helping to preserve the ecosystems they explore.

    Naturalists Onboard

Fred. Olsen’s cruises are accompanied by knowledgeable wildlife experts who provide context and insights into the creatures spotted along the way. These experts host lectures, lead discussions, and are available for one-on-one chats, making the wildlife experiences both educational and memorable.

Passengers often praise the naturalists for enhancing their understanding of marine life, bird species, and conservation efforts in the regions visited.

    Highlights from 2024 Voyages

Some of the most memorable wildlife sightings recorded in 2024 include:

    British Coastal Waters

    • Pods of common dolphins off southern England.
    • Grey seals resting on sandbanks in Norfolk and Cornwall.
    • Abundant seabirds, such as gannets and kittiwakes, along Scotland’s rugged coastline.

    Arctic Regions

    • Polar bears foraging on the icy shores of Svalbard.
    • Groups of walruses seen resting on ice floes.
    • Arctic foxes glimpsed during tundra expeditions.

    Tropical Regions

    • Humpback whales breaching off Cape Verde and Caribbean islands.
    • Vibrant Amazonian wildlife, including macaws and pink river dolphins.
    • Shore excursions in South Africa, offering opportunities to see the “Big Five” in their natural habitats.

    Commitment to Sustainability

Fred. Olsen’s efforts to prioritize sustainable cruising are evident in their wildlife-focused itineraries. By minimizing the environmental impact of their operations, they ensure that:

    • Wildlife encounters remain ethical and non-intrusive.
    • Marine and coastal habitats are preserved for future generations.
    • Educational programs onboard inspire passengers to become advocates for conservation.

The company’s initiatives include reducing single-use plastics, optimizing fuel efficiency, and adhering to strict guidelines for responsible tourism.

    Looking Ahead to 2025

Building on the success of 2024, Fred. Olsen plans to expand its wildlife-focused itineraries in 2025. Upcoming voyages will explore regions rich in biodiversity, such as:

    • The Arctic Circle: Offering further opportunities to see polar bears, walruses, and seabirds.
    • The Canary Islands: A hotspot for marine life, including dolphins and turtles.
    • South America: Featuring Amazon River expeditions and Patagonian fjords.

By continuing to prioritize wildlife experiences and sustainability, Fred. Olsen aims to deepen passengers’ appreciation for the natural world while protecting it for years to come.

This milestone of 9,500 wildlife sightings serves as a testament to Fred. Olsen Cruise Lines’ commitment to providing unique, eco-conscious travel experiences. Whether you’re a seasoned birder or simply looking to connect with nature, their cruises offer a rare opportunity to witness the beauty and diversity of our planet’s wildlife.

  • Ambassador and CFC Merge to Form New European Cruise Brand

Ambassador and CFC Merge to Form New European Cruise Brand

In a significant development within the cruise industry, UK-based Ambassador Cruise Line and France’s Compagnie Française de Croisières (CFC) have announced a merger to create the Ambassador Group, a new European cruise brand. This strategic alliance aims to expand their presence in key European markets by offering no-fly cruises and introducing new Caribbean itineraries.

    Combined Fleet and Market Expansion

The newly formed Ambassador Group will operate a fleet of three mid-sized vessels:

    • Renaissance: Formerly Holland America Line’s Maasdam, this ship accommodates 1,200 guests and underwent a major renovation before launching with CFC.
    • Ambience: Built in 1991, this 1,400-guest vessel joined Ambassador in 2022.
    • Ambition: The newest addition, this ship joined the fleet in 2023.

Each ship will retain its distinctive British and French onboard experiences, catering to a diverse clientele.

    Caribbean Expansion and Sustainable Initiatives

A notable highlight of the merger is the launch of a Caribbean cruise program in October 2025, marking a significant departure from the cruise lines’ traditional no-fly offerings. Cruises will target source markets in the UK, France, and the Netherlands, with embarkation ports including Barbados, Martinique, and Curaçao. The Caribbean series will be operated in partnership with Dutch travel operator Corendon, which also owns Corendon Airlines, a likely backbone for the fly-cruise packages.

Sustainability remains a key focus for the new company. The 1,200-guest Renaissance, refurbished in 2023, will enter dry dock in January 2025 to install IMO Tier III environmental technologies, aligning it with the International Maritime Organization’s stringent nitrogen oxide emission standards. Both Ambassador ships are already compliant.

    Industry Impact and Future Outlook

As the cruise industry continues to evolve, this merger signifies a strategic move to meet the increasing demand for diverse and sustainable cruise options in the European market.

  • Father Dies After Jumping from Cruise Ship on Boxing Day

Father Dies After Jumping from Cruise Ship on Boxing Day

Cruise holidays are usually an exciting way to spend time with loved ones, but a recent tragedy aboard a cruise ship has left many in shock. A father’s heartbreaking decision to jump from the ship on Boxing Day has drawn attention to the risks of mental health challenges while travelling, as well as the urgent need for support during such crises.

This tragic event, which occurred while the ship was cruising in the Atlantic, highlights the reality that cruise ships aren’t immune to the emotional struggles some passengers may face—even in the midst of what should be a joyful holiday.

    The Incident: A Devastating Loss

On Boxing Day, a father tragically took his own life by jumping from a Royal Caribbean cruise ship. According to reports, his final words expressed distress before he made the tragic decision to leap into the sea.

Despite the ship’s prompt emergency response, including a search and rescue operation, the man could not be found. His family and fellow passengers were understandably devastated by the loss, and the incident has raised questions about mental health on cruises and the resources available to passengers in need.

Mental Health Struggles at Sea: What Passengers Need to Know

Mental health issues can affect anyone, and while cruising offers a sense of escape, it can also trigger or exacerbate personal struggles. For some passengers, being far from home in a confined environment can lead to feelings of isolation or anxiety.

    Mental Health Resources on Cruises

While this tragedy has highlighted the need for greater awareness around mental health, it’s important to note that most cruise lines do have measures in place to support passengers during emotional crises. These resources include:

    • Onboard medical teams trained to respond to emergencies, including those related to mental health.
    • Access to communication, allowing passengers to stay in touch with loved ones during difficult times.
    • Wellness programs such as mindfulness activities and relaxation treatments, which can help relieve stress.

If you or a loved one is experiencing emotional distress while on a cruise, it’s crucial to seek help immediately. Cruise ship staff are trained to assist and can connect passengers with the right support.

Why This Tragedy Highlights the Need for Support and Awareness

This heartbreaking event should remind us that mental health is a critical consideration when embarking on any journey. While cruise ships provide a space to unwind and enjoy new experiences, they are not immune to the challenges of mental health.

It’s essential for cruise lines, passengers, and their families to be aware of the emotional challenges that can arise while travelling and to take proactive steps to ensure that the necessary support systems are in place.

    Conclusion: A Sobering Reminder

The tragic death of this father serves as a powerful reminder that mental health struggles can affect anyone, anywhere. While we often think of cruise holidays as a time to relax, it’s important to remember that for some, the stress of travel and time away from home can lead to unexpected emotional difficulties.

As we reflect on this heartbreaking loss, we must also focus on improving awareness, support, and resources for passengers who may be struggling emotionally while at sea. Only through collective action can we ensure that everyone feels supported and safe during their travels.

  • This Common Cruise Mistake Cost £1,300! How To Avoid It

This Common Cruise Mistake Cost £1,300! How To Avoid It

Cruise holidays are all about relaxation, adventure, and creating unforgettable memories. However, one Royal Caribbean passenger’s £1,300 phone bill serves as a sobering reminder that staying connected at sea can come with shocking costs.

This hefty bill was the result of an oversight—leaving mobile data roaming enabled on a device that connected to a cruise ship’s maritime network. With rates as high as £10 per MB, the charges quickly added up.

Fortunately, staying connected on your cruise doesn’t have to mean breaking the bank. We use GigSky’s eSim packages for reliable, affordable data no matter where our cruise takes us.

What Happened: Understanding the £1,300 Phone Bill

Maritime networks operate via satellite and aren’t covered by traditional mobile plans. These networks automatically connect devices in international waters, where roaming fees skyrocket. A single video stream or social media scroll can cost hundreds of pounds.

This passenger’s costly mistake underscores the importance of proper preparation. That’s why we use GigSky for hassle-free cruise connectivity.

GigSky eSim: How Does it Work on a Cruise?

With GigSky’s eSim technology, you can enjoy high-speed data at a fraction of the cost of cruise ship Wi-Fi or roaming charges.

Key Benefits of GigSky eSim for Cruises:

    1. Affordable Data Plans
GigSky offers flexible data packages tailored for travellers, starting at competitive prices.
    2. Seamless Coverage at Sea and on Land
Stay connected both at sea and during port visits, with coverage across popular cruise destinations worldwide.
    3. No Physical SIM Required
eSim technology eliminates the need for swapping out SIM cards. Everything is digital, making setup quick and easy.
    4. No Hidden Costs
Say goodbye to surprise bills. With GigSky, you pay only for the data plan you choose.
    5. Easy Setup
Activate your GigSky eSim in minutes by scanning a QR code on your smartphone.

👉 You can check out GigSky here. Use code ANCHORSUP for an exclusive 10% discount!

Why eSim is Better Than Cruise Ship Wi-Fi

While most cruise ships offer Wi-Fi packages, they often come with limitations:

    • High Costs: Cruise Wi-Fi can cost £20–£40 per day or more, depending on the plan.
    • Unreliable Speeds: Satellite-based Wi-Fi is notorious for being slow, especially during peak usage times.
    • Limited Accessibility: Many cruise lines charge extra for streaming services like Netflix or Skype.

In contrast, GigSky eSims provide consistent, affordable connectivity that works on both land and sea.

    How GigSky Works on Cruises

GigSky eSims leverage satellite technology to ensure connectivity at sea and switch seamlessly to local networks when docked. This dual capability means you’re never out of touch, no matter where your itinerary takes you.

Tips for Staying Connected Without Breaking the Bank

    1. Turn Off Data Roaming
Always disable data roaming before boarding your cruise. This ensures your device won’t connect to expensive maritime networks.
    2. Activate a GigSky eSim
Before setting sail, purchase and activate a GigSky eSim data package. With global coverage and affordable rates, it’s the smartest way to stay connected.

👉 Order you GigSky eSim here. Use code ANCHORSUP for an exclusive 10% discount!

    1. Use Airplane Mode
Keep your phone in airplane mode throughout the cruise and use your GigSky eSim for data. This eliminates accidental roaming charges.
    2. Download Content in Advance
Save movies, playlists, and maps to your device before departure to minimise the need for internet access.
    3. Monitor Your Usage
GigSky’s app allows you to track your data usage, so you never go over your plan’s limits.

FAQs About Using an eSim on Cruises

    1. Can I use an eSim on all cruises?
Yes! GigSky’s coverage includes many popular cruise destinations. Be sure to check the coverage map on their website for specifics.

    2. How does an eSim work?
An eSim is a digital SIM embedded in your smartphone. Instead of inserting a physical SIM card, you simply download and activate a data plan.

    3. What devices are compatible with eSims?
Most modern smartphones support eSim technology. Popular models include iPhone 11 and newer, Samsung Galaxy S21, and Google Pixel devices.

    Stay Connected and Cruise Worry-Free

Don’t let a £1,300 phone bill ruin your dream cruise. By planning ahead and using a GigSky eSim, you can enjoy seamless, affordable internet access without the stress of hidden costs.

  • The Best Cruise Approved Travel Adaptor of 2025

The Best Cruise Approved Travel Adaptor of 2025

Heading off on a cruise is an exciting adventure, but preparing for a week or two at sea requires careful planning. One essential item that often gets overlooked is a travel adaptor. Many cruise ships have a mix of plug socket types, and not all cabins are equipped with USB ports. If you want to keep your devices charged and ready, a travel adaptor is a must-have. In this article, we’ll explain why you need one, what to look for, and introduce you to an excellent option for your trip.

Cruise Cabins: A Mix of Plug Types

Cruise ships are floating hotels that cater to passengers from all over the world. As a result, their cabins often feature a mix of plug sockets, depending on the ship’s origin or destination. For example:

    • US-based cruise lines like Royal Caribbean or Carnival Cruises usually have standard US plugs (Type A/B).
    • European cruise lines like MSC Cruises and Costa Cruises typically use European plugs (Type C).
    • Some cruise ships even have UK plugs (Type G), especially on ships departing from the UK.

However, very few cabins are equipped with all three socket types, and some may have only one or two outlets for the entire cabin! That’s where a travel adaptor comes in handy, ensuring you’re prepared for any configuration.

Not All Cruise Cabins Have USB Ports

Modern gadgets like phones, tablets, and cameras rely heavily on USB charging. While newer cruise ships and recently refurbished ones may include USB ports, many older vessels don’t offer this convenience. If you’re travelling on a ship without USB outlets, you could find yourself fighting over limited power sockets to charge your devices.

A travel adaptor with USB ports, like this UK-to-EU Multi Plug Travel Adaptor on Amazon which features 3 USB-A and 1 USB-C ports, is a lifesaver. This versatile device ensures you can charge multiple gadgets at once without worrying about socket types.

Why Surge Protection is Not Allowed on Cruises

You might think bringing a power strip with surge protection is a good idea, but most cruise lines prohibit devices with surge protection. Why? Cruise ships run on sophisticated electrical systems, and surge protectors can interfere with the ship’s power grid. For safety reasons, cruise lines such as Royal Caribbean, Norwegian Cruise Line, and Princess Cruises have strict rules about this.

Instead, opt for a cruise-approved travel adaptor or a non-surge protected power strip, though the latter is not always allowed on board, especially if it has a long cord. The travel adaptor we’ve linked below meets all cruise ship requirements, making it a safe and reliable choice.

What to Look for in a Cruise Travel Adaptor

When choosing the right travel adaptor for your cruise, here are some key features to consider:

    Cruise approved travel adaptor
    1. Compatibility: Most ships have EU sockets so if you’re looking to get the best bang for you buck an EU adaptor is probably your best bet.
    2. USB Ports: Adapters with USB charging ports save you the hassle of carrying multiple chargers.
    3. Cruise-Safe Design: Ensure the adaptor is compliant with cruise ship rules, meaning no surge protection.
    4. Compact and Lightweight: Cabin space is limited, so opt for an adaptor that’s easy to pack and doesn’t take up too much room.

Final Tips for Packing Electronics on a Cruise

    • Bring a small power strip: Choose one without surge protection for extra outlets.
    • Label your adaptor: Avoid losing it by adding a colourful sticker or tag.
    • Don’t overpack: Bring only the gadgets you truly need, like your phone, camera, or e-reader. Leave bulky appliances like hair dryers at home, as most cruise cabins provide them.
    • Check the ship’s policy: Before you travel, review your cruise line’s rules on power strips and adapters to avoid any surprises.

    Conclusion

A travel adaptor is an essential item for your cruise packing list. With different plug socket types on various ships and the lack of USB ports in many cabins, being prepared ensures a stress-free holiday. This Cruise Approved Travel Adaptor is the perfect solution, offering compatibility, USB charging, and compliance with cruise rules.

    Frequently Asked Questions

    1. Will my laptop or phone charger work on a cruise?

Most devices, like laptops and phones, are dual-voltage (110-240V), meaning they’ll work without issue. Just bring the correct plug adapter for the sockets on your ship.

    2. Are extension cords allowed?

Extension cords with a loose wire are generally not allowed. In-wall multi-socket adaptors are however fine to take on most lines (except for Royal Caribbean and Celebrity), as long as they do not have surge protectors. You can opt for this cruise-approved travel adaptor (which comes without a surge protector) to ensure you stay compliant with cruise lines’ rules.

    3. Can I charge my devices in public areas?

Many modern ships offer charging stations in lounges or other common areas. These are great for when you’re on the go but can be limited.

    4. Do cruise cabins have USB ports?

Many newer ships come equipped with USB charging ports in the cabins. However, older ships may lack this convenience. Opt for a travel adaptor that provides USB-A and USB-C charging options for peace of mind.
