MSC Cruises has taken decisive action to ensure the safety of its passengers. Over 1,500 guests stranded on the MSC Euribia in Dubai are being evacuated. The cruise line has organised a series of charter and commercial flights to bring them home. This move comes as tensions in the Middle East escalate, affecting travel plans.
Charter and Commercial Flights in Action
On 5th March 2026, MSC Cruises announced a dedicated flight programme. This initiative aims to provide the “safest and quickest” route home for guests. Many passengers were unable to disembark due to airport disruptions and regional instability. The cruise line quickly arranged five charter flights, with the first departing that day.
By 6th March, the operation had expanded. More than 1,500 guests had been allocated flights out of the region. Seven flights had already left, including charter services funded by MSC Cruises. The company also secured seats on commercial flights with Emirates and Flydubai. Some government-organised flights were also part of the effort.
Global Repatriation Efforts
Passengers are being repatriated to various countries. These include the United Kingdom, Italy, Germany, Spain, the United States, and Brazil. The operation is a testament to MSC Cruises’ commitment to passenger safety. Pierfrancesco Vago, Executive Chairman of MSC Cruises, praised the company’s efforts. He highlighted the tireless work of the ship’s crew and global teams.
Collaboration and Support
MSC Cruises has received significant support from its airline partner, Emirates. Regional and national governments have also played a crucial role. They have facilitated the necessary logistics and authorisations for the flights. While some guests remain on the ship, efforts continue to ensure their safe passage.

The repatriation effort follows a decision to keep MSC Euribia docked in Dubai. This decision came after a joint US and Israeli strike in the region. The conflict has left ships unable to sail, prompting swift action from MSC Cruises. The cruise line remains committed to the safety and well-being of its passengers.
