Passengers aboard the MSC Euribia have received detailed emergency instructions as the ship remains docked in Dubai. Cruise operations in the Persian Gulf have been halted due to regional security concerns. The precautionary notice, dated 3rd March 2026, was issued while the vessel stays in the United Arab Emirates port.
Enhanced Safety Measures
Captain Paolo Benini assured guests that the port area in Dubai is currently secure. However, additional procedures are in place to ensure readiness if the situation changes. The message, shared within the MSC friends community, emphasises that these steps are precautionary and not a response to any new threat.
Colour-Coded Alerts
Guests were informed about two colour-coded announcements that might be broadcast via the ship’s public address system. If passengers hear “Delta Tango – Blue Code”, it indicates a potential threat near the vessel. In this case, crew members will clear all open decks and guide guests to safe areas on board. Passengers should follow crew instructions promptly.
Immediate Emergency Protocol
A second announcement, “Delta Tango – Red Code”, signifies an immediate emergency affecting the ship. If this code is activated, guests must follow crew instructions without delay. Depending on the situation, passengers may be directed to protected areas on board or possibly ashore. The letter also encourages guests to remain calm and assist fellow passengers if needed.
Reassurance from the Captain
Captain Benini stressed that this communication does not indicate a change in the vessel’s risk assessment. It was issued because MSC Euribia is staying in port longer than planned after suspending its Gulf itineraries. He reassured guests that the crew is fully trained to handle various emergency scenarios and that the ship is closely monitoring developments with the relevant authorities.
Impact on Cruise Operations
The cancellation of sailings in the Persian Gulf is due to increased regional tensions. MSC Euribia remains docked in Dubai while the situation is assessed. Cruise lines in the region are reviewing their deployment plans as security conditions evolve, with passenger safety as the top priority.
For UK cruise holidaygoers, staying informed and prepared is essential. While these measures are precautionary, they highlight the importance of safety in cruise travel.
