Princess Cruises has recently made some changes that might affect your onboard budget. As of 8th March 2026, two key fees have been increased. These adjustments apply to the entire fleet, impacting both service charges on purchases and daily gratuities for the crew.
Service Charge On Drinks And Dining Now 20%
If you’re planning to enjoy a drink or a special meal, expect a slight increase in cost. The service charge for optional purchases, such as drinks and dining, has risen from 18% to 20%. This fee is automatically added to your bill for various onboard services not included in the cruise fare. However, it does not apply to retail items bought in onboard shops.
The change is being implemented as ships start new voyages, so it won’t affect those already at sea. If you’ve prepaid for packages like the Plus or Premier fare options, you won’t need to pay the difference. The cruise line assures that no extra amount will be added to your onboard account for these charges.
Crew Appreciation Gratuities Also Increased
In addition to the service charge, daily crew appreciation gratuities have also gone up. Passengers in suites will now pay $20 per person, per day. Those in Mini Suites, Cabanas, and Club Class staterooms will see a charge of $19 per person, per day. For all other staterooms, the daily gratuity is now $18 per person, per day.
Unlike the automatic service charge, you can adjust the crew appreciation gratuities at your discretion through guest services onboard. This flexibility allows you to tailor your gratuity to your satisfaction with the service.
Additional Changes to Note
Alongside these fee increases, Princess Cruises has also raised the shipping cost for its Medallion wearable devices by $10 per address. This change is part of a broader update to the cruise line’s pricing structure.
