Royal Caribbean Launches Legend of the Seas Early for UK Cruisers

Guests eager to explore Royal Caribbean’s upcoming Legend of the Seas can now embark sooner than anticipated. The cruise line has announced that construction is progressing faster than expected, allowing for three additional inaugural sailings in July 2026.

Exciting New Sailings Announced

Royal Caribbean has confirmed that the ship’s construction is ahead of schedule. Consequently, three new sailings have been added to the inaugural season, departing on 11th, 18th, and 25th July 2026. The ship will begin its inaugural journey in the Mediterranean, with the first official cruise setting sail on 11th July 2026 from Civitavecchia (Rome). This 7-night adventure will include stops in Naples, Barcelona, Palma de Mallorca, and Marseille.

Options for Existing Bookings

Guests who have already booked the previously planned inaugural voyage on 2nd August 2026 have some choices. They can transfer to one of the earlier sailings, add an extra cruise, or stick with their current booking. Royal Caribbean understands the significance of inaugural sailings, often marked by special events and souvenirs. This flexibility ensures loyal guests are not left out.

Price Protection for Suite Guests

Suite passengers wishing to switch to the 11th July sailing can enjoy full price protection if they make the change by 24th September 2025. Transfers to the 18th or 25th July departures will be at the current rate and subject to availability. Guests in other cabin categories, such as interior, oceanview, or balcony, can also transfer, though at the prevailing fare.

Progress at the Shipyard

Legend of the Seas is being constructed at the Meyer Turku shipyard in Finland, the same facility that built Icon of the Seas and Star of the Seas. The ship was floated out on 29th August 2025, marking a significant milestone. This 248,000-gross-ton vessel will be the third in the Icon class, featuring new attractions alongside Royal Caribbean favourites.

Earlier Debuts: A Common Occurrence

While cruise lines strive for accurate timelines, schedules can change. When Star of the Seas was completed ahead of time, Royal Caribbean added four earlier showcase sailings, with the first official cruise on 16th August 2025. It’s possible that more preview sailings could be added for Legend of the Seas before its full debut. Guests should stay updated, as these new sailings are expected to sell out quickly due to the ship’s anticipated launch.

Stay tuned for the latest Royal Caribbean offers and don’t miss out on the chance to be part of this exciting new chapter in cruise travel.
