Guests aboard the Villa Vie Odyssey are in for a treat starting late 2025. The residential cruise ship will introduce a unique floating platform, enhancing the ocean experience for its residents. This innovative feature, known as the “Customized Floating Oasis,” is set to debut in some of the world’s most exotic ports, including the Maldives and Seychelles.
Experience the Floating Marine and Recreation Hub
Developed in collaboration with AquaBanas, the platform will serve as a versatile Floating Marine and Recreation Hub. It offers a space for sunbathing, water sports, and tendering assistance in remote locations. Mikael Petterson, Chairman of Villa Vie Residences, highlights that residents seek more than just a place to live; they crave unique experiences.
Innovative Design and Features
The inflatable platform can be deployed from either side of the 24,300-gross ton Villa Vie Odyssey. It includes shaded loungers, an in-ocean pool cutout, and docking points for kayaks and jet skis. This innovation also supports disembarkation in ports lacking tender infrastructure, making it a practical addition to the ship.
AquaBanas: Pioneers in Floating Platforms
AquaBanas, known for its inflatable platforms at destinations like Half Moon Cay and Celebration Key in the Bahamas, sees this as a significant step forward. CEO Mark Anastasia believes this oasis will redefine oceanfront living, offering both adventure and luxury.
Access and Potential Costs
While AquaBanas platforms typically come with a rental fee, it’s unclear if Villa Vie Odyssey guests will face charges for this new feature. With a guest capacity of 929, access might be limited and weather-dependent. However, the floating hub adds a luxurious perk for long-term residents on the Continual World Cruise.
Future Innovations at Sea
This new platform reflects a broader trend in cruise innovation. AquaBanas already offers floating daybeds, party islands, and even full-sized pickleball courts. If successful, Villa Vie might expand its offerings, potentially adding a floating pickleball court at sea.
