A recent incident aboard Royal Caribbean’s Liberty of the Seas has captured significant online attention. A passenger named Claudette found herself confined to her cabin after a theatre dispute turned physical. She shared her story on TikTok, where her video has amassed over 1.7 million views since 22nd March 2026.
Dispute Over Seating
The altercation began during a “Battle of the Sexes” game show. Claudette and her group briefly left their seats, only to return and find them occupied. Although she initially accepted the situation, tensions flared when she tried to find new seats. Claudette claims another passenger became confrontational and struck her hand. In response, she retaliated with a punch, which she described as a reflexive action.
Security Intervention
The situation escalated further with a second confrontation involving both parties. Security intervened, leading to Claudette’s confinement in her cabin. She was not taken to the ship’s brig but faced several restrictions. Items like cables, a desk chair, shower curtains, and the showerhead were removed from her cabin. A security officer was stationed outside, conducting checks every 30 minutes.
Life Under Confinement
During her confinement, Claudette could only order food and drinks via room service. She was required to keep at least one light on in her room. Despite the restrictions, she was allowed to keep her phone due to her cooperation with security. Claudette expressed frustration, stating, “All this because someone smacked me and I defended myself.”
Royal Caribbean’s Conduct Policy
Royal Caribbean enforces a strict guest conduct policy. It prohibits inappropriate or abusive behaviour, including physical altercations. The policy states that uninvited physical contact, harassment, and violence are unacceptable. Consequences for violations range from confinement to disembarkation and even a lifetime ban. The cruise line reserves the right to separate individuals deemed a risk to others.
