A Texas man’s eagerly anticipated cruise holiday came to an abrupt end at PortMiami on 31st July 2026, when law enforcement officers arrested him just as he prepared to board a Royal Caribbean vessel. The 47-year-old faces felony battery charges stemming from an alleged assault on a bartender at a popular Miami establishment days earlier.
Daniel Ramirez, 47, from Texas, allegedly attacked a female bartender at the Hard Rock Cafe at Bayside Marketplace on the evening of Sunday, 26th July 2026. The restaurant and bar, located less than a mile from the cruise terminal, is a frequent stop for passengers extending their Miami visit before or after their sailing.
According to local news outlet 7 News, the incident began when the bartender noticed Ramirez at a serving area consuming fruit slices meant as drink garnishes. When she asked him to stop, he reportedly responded with profanity and escalated the situation by complaining to her manager.
The complaint itself raised concerns, as Ramirez allegedly stated he was a veteran with post-traumatic stress disorder and insisted that no woman should speak to him in such a manner. This initial confrontation set the stage for a more serious altercation that would follow shortly after.
Bartender Suffers Serious Injuries During Second Confrontation
The situation deteriorated rapidly during a second interaction between Ramirez and the bartender. According to the victim’s account, Ramirez shoved her to the ground during this encounter.
When she attempted to get up and photograph him – likely to document the incident for authorities – he allegedly knocked the mobile phone from her hand. The assault then intensified, with Ramirez appearing to grab the bartender and shove her to the ground a second time, which resulted in her losing consciousness.
