A Norwegian Cruise Line passenger has been filmed engaging in dangerous prohibited behaviour aboard Norwegian Getaway, climbing over a balcony railing onto a restricted structural overhang to take selfie photographs whilst the ship was docked in Nassau, Bahamas.
A video shared across multiple social media platforms captures a guest aboard Norwegian Getaway scaling a balcony railing on Deck 9 and stepping onto a structural overhang designed to protect the deck below. The footage, originally posted by Instagram user @rudyhdez1962 on Thursday, 3rd September 2026, clearly shows the individual walking along the restricted space without any safety barriers or railings.
The structural overhang in question is not a public promenade or designated passenger area. It serves a purely functional purpose as weather protection for the deck beneath and has no safety features to prevent falls.
Multiple Selfie Poses In Restricted Area
Throughout the approximately one-minute video, the passenger can be seen pausing at several points to capture photographs with a mobile phone camera. At one particularly risky moment, the individual props their camera against the ship’s hull and kneels for a pose several feet away, closer to the unprotected edge of the overhang.
The footage demonstrates a clear disregard for personal safety and cruise line regulations. After completing the photo session, the guest climbs back over the stateroom balcony railing to return to their accommodation.

Confusion Surrounds Video’s Origin And Date
Whilst the video was posted on 3rd September 2026, the actual date of the incident remains unclear. Norwegian Getaway was indeed docked in Nassau on that date, but given that the 3,962-passenger ship calls at the Bahamian capital on every sailing, the footage could have been filmed during an earlier voyage.
Adding to the confusion, the video’s YouTube posting includes the hashtag #msc in its caption. The full Spanish-to-English translation of that caption reads “Passenger on an MSC cruise ship jumps into a restricted and very DANGEROUS area to take photos.” However, the ship is unmistakably Norwegian Getaway, with the vessel’s name clearly visible on the hull and the distinctive hull artwork matching the Norwegian Cruise Line ship.
The camera angle and positioning suggest the video was recorded from an adjacent cruise ship sharing dock space with Norwegian Getaway. Based on port schedules for 3rd September 2026, Royal Caribbean’s Wonder of the Seas and Jewel of the Seas were also in Nassau that day, along with Carnival Cruise Line’s Carnival Liberty, assuming the video was posted on the same day it was filmed.
