Disney Cruise Line Introduces Room Service Charge
Disney Cruise Line is making waves with a new policy on its ship, Disney Adventure. For the first time, guests will face a charge for room service. This change marks a departure from the traditional perk included in the cruise fare. Starting next week, room service orders will incur a $5 service charge, plus an automatic 18% gratuity.
Why the Change?
Historically, Disney Cruise Line has offered complimentary room service, setting it apart from many competitors. However, Disney Adventure is experiencing high demand for room service. Crew members are struggling to keep up, prompting this new fee to manage requests more effectively. Interestingly, Disney Adventure is not yet listed on the cruise line’s room service webpage, adding to the intrigue.
Who Gets Free Room Service?
Not all guests will be affected by the new charges. Breakfast orders using the door-hanger system remain free. Concierge-level guests will also continue to enjoy complimentary room service. These exceptions ensure that some guests still benefit from the traditional Disney experience.

As the newest ship in the fleet, Disney Adventure is undergoing typical operational adjustments. Cruise lines often refine procedures in the early months to meet guest demand and operational needs. While Disney hasn’t publicly explained the fee, it seems aimed at easing pressure on room service operations.

The room service charge isn’t the only new feature on Disney Adventure. The ship recently introduced a paid dessert party linked to an entertainment experience. This event, tied to The Lion King: Celebration in the Sky, costs $49 per guest. It takes place from 10 p.m. to 11 p.m. and can be booked via the Disney Cruise Line Navigator app or through Guest Services.

Disney Adventure appears to be a testing ground for new revenue-generating experiences and operational changes. These innovations may differ from the traditions of the rest of the Disney Cruise Line fleet. For now, Disney Adventure is setting a new course, offering unique experiences for its guests.
