A Florida woman has been arrested and charged with four counts of child neglect after allegedly leaving her young children home alone whilst she embarked on a three-night Carnival cruise. Nathalie Belizaire, 29, was taken into custody by U.S. Customs and Border Protection when Carnival Conquest returned to PortMiami on 28th September 2026.
The troubling situation came to light when the father of Belizaire’s two-month-old infant grew concerned about the welfare of the children. According to reports from Local10 News, Belizaire had informed the man that the four youngsters would be under the care of their great-grandmother during her absence.
However, after spotting a social media post from Belizaire that appeared to show her aboard a cruise ship, the father decided to conduct a welfare check at her North Miami Beach apartment.
On Saturday evening, 26th September 2026, the concerned father arrived at Belizaire’s residence. Upon approaching the apartment, he could hear only the sound of a television and young voices from within, with no apparent adult presence supervising the children.
Growing increasingly alarmed by the absence of any responsible caregiver, he immediately contacted emergency services to report the situation.
Emergency Response Reveals Children Home Alone
First responders were dispatched to the apartment and were forced to gain entry to the property. Once inside, police discovered all four children without any adult supervision whatsoever.
The youngsters were found hiding together in the bathroom, likely frightened by the commotion and uncertain of what was happening.
The ages of two of the children have been disclosed – one is merely two months old, whilst another is two years of age. The ages of the remaining two children have not been publicly released by authorities.
No further details regarding the current whereabouts or care arrangements for the children have been made available, though it is presumed they have been placed in the custody of child welfare services or suitable family members.
The discovery prompted immediate action from law enforcement, who began coordinating with port authorities to apprehend Belizaire upon her return to Miami. The swift response by emergency services likely prevented any potential harm to the vulnerable children, who were left without access to proper care, nourishment, or emergency assistance during their mother’s absence.
Arrest At PortMiami Following Cruise Return
Carnival Conquest departed PortMiami on Friday, 25th September 2026, for a brief three-night sailing to the Bahamas. The itinerary included a visit to Carnival Cruise Line’s newest private island destination, Celebration Key, on Sunday, 27th September.
When the 2,980-passenger cruise ship returned to its home port on Monday morning, 28th September, Belizaire was met by U.S. Customs and Border Protection agents who had been alerted to the situation.
