A Royal Caribbean passenger says $5,000 in cash was missing from a bag retrieved from a locked cabin safe after her family disembarked Navigator of the Seas in Los Angeles.
The passenger has taken to social media to seek answers over the missing money, claiming the bag was eventually returned with just $340 in cash and other belongings still inside.
She said the family only realised after leaving the ship that the bank bag had been forgotten in the safe in their stateroom. They attempted to return onboard but were prevented from doing so as embarkation for the next sailing was already underway.
According to her account, port personnel instead contacted the ship under its lost property procedure and arranged for the forgotten bag to be retrieved.
Approximately two hours later, the bag was brought ashore. However, the passenger alleges that $5,000 which had been inside was no longer there.

The allegation has not been independently established, and the passenger acknowledged in her video that she did not have photographs showing the cash inside the safe.
Passenger Questions How Bag Was Retrieved
The passenger said she remained at the cruise terminal for several hours while attempting to obtain further information and eventually approached a police officer at the port.
According to her account, the officer later contacted her after reviewing surveillance footage with the ship’s security personnel.
She said she was told that footage showed a Royal Caribbean employee entering the family’s stateroom alone before emerging several minutes later carrying the bag. The employee then allegedly went directly to guest services, where the contents of the bag were documented in an area covered by cameras.
The passenger’s account indicates that there was no surveillance footage covering what happened inside the stateroom itself.
She has questioned why an employee was allegedly permitted to enter the cabin alone to recover property from a locked safe, arguing that an additional employee or manager should have been present.
However, the passenger did not provide Royal Caribbean’s procedures for retrieving belongings from stateroom safes, and the circumstances surrounding the missing cash remain disputed and unresolved.
She said she completed a report at the port before subsequently submitting another report online after contacting Royal Caribbean’s customer service department. She also said she supplied information including a police report number and photographs of the bag.
Royal Caribbean Response Leaves Passenger Seeking Answers
Seven days after the incident, the passenger said she received a response through Royal Caribbean’s social media team indicating that only the bag and $340 had been recovered and advising her to contact local law enforcement regarding the missing money.
