Celebrity Cruises Cancels August 2027 Equinox Sailing Due To Full-Ship Charter

Celebrity Cruises has cancelled a scheduled August 2027 sailing aboard Celebrity Equinox, notifying booked passengers that the departure will no longer operate due to a full-ship charter commitment.

The cruise line sent formal notifications to affected guests in recent days, confirming that the 12 August 2027 voyage has been pulled from the schedule. The decision impacts passengers who had booked what was planned as a nine-night Mediterranean itinerary exploring Spain, Portugal and Morocco.

Celebrity acknowledged the disruption in its statement to guests, recognising the inconvenience caused by the late-stage cancellation. The company has outlined several compensation packages and alternative sailing options for those whose holiday plans have been affected by the charter arrangement.

Original Itinerary Featured Overnight Lisbon Call And Moroccan Port

The cancelled sailing was set to depart Barcelona on a roundtrip voyage spanning nine nights across the Western Mediterranean and North African coast. The itinerary included calls at Porto in Portugal, the Moroccan port of Tangier, and Cádiz in southern Spain.

A highlight of the planned cruise was an overnight stay in Lisbon, allowing passengers extended time to explore Portugal’s historic capital. The combination of Iberian and North African ports represented one of Celebrity’s popular summer Mediterranean programmes.

The Celebrity Equinox, which entered service in 2009 as part of the line’s Solstice class, typically operates European itineraries during the northern hemisphere summer season. The 2,850-passenger vessel offers a range of Mediterranean sailings from various homeports throughout the warmer months.

Rebooking Options Include Similar Mediterranean Sailings

Celebrity has presented affected passengers with multiple rebooking alternatives on similar itineraries. Guests can transfer their reservations to comparable nine-night sailings aboard the Equinox scheduled for June or September 2027.

Another option allows passengers to switch to a nine-night Italian Riviera, Spain and France voyage departing in early August 2027. This alternative maintains a similar timeframe to the original booking whilst offering a different port selection.

The cruise line has committed to protecting passengers’ original stateroom category pricing. If the current cruise fare for the alternative sailing is lower than what guests originally paid, Celebrity will reduce the price accordingly and refund the difference for reservations already paid in full.

This pricing protection ensures that affected passengers won’t face increased costs when moving to replacement sailings. The policy applies across all stateroom categories, from inside cabins through to suite accommodations.

Onboard Credit Compensation Varies By Stateroom Category

As compensation for the cancellation, Celebrity is offering non-refundable onboard credit that varies based on accommodation type. Pass
