Azamara Cruises has revealed plans for its most ambitious world cruise to date, offering passengers unprecedented flexibility with three distinct voyage options for the first time. The 2029 World Cruise will sail aboard Azamara Quest, departing San Diego and culminating in Copenhagen over a period of up to 195 nights.
The cruise line has positioned the 2029 World Cruise as the longest and most geographically expansive circumnavigation available in that year, surpassing competitor offerings in both duration and port diversity. The full 195-night voyage will traverse five continents, calling at 40 countries and territories across 126 ports of call.
This extensive itinerary includes 12 maiden ports – destinations that Azamara Quest will visit for the first time – adding an element of discovery to the already comprehensive journey. The cruise line has also structured the voyage to maximise time in port, with 65 per cent of the entire sailing spent alongside or at anchor.
The commitment to destination immersion extends beyond simple port calls. Azamara has scheduled 16 overnight stays and 60 late-night departures, allowing passengers extended opportunities to experience destinations after dark and explore without the pressure of early departures.
Flexible Options For Different Travel Preferences
Understanding that not all passengers can commit to a full six-and-a-half-month voyage, Azamara has introduced two shorter alternatives that still offer substantial world cruising experiences. This marks the first time the cruise line has offered multiple segment options for a world voyage at launch.
The first shortened option spans 179 nights, sailing from San Diego to London and maintaining the five-continent routing of the full voyage. This itinerary preserves much of the immersive experience with 52 late nights, 16 overnight stays, and all 12 maiden ports included in the journey.
The second alternative offers a 139-night cruise from Sydney to Copenhagen, also spanning five continents but with a different perspective on global travel. This option includes 43 late nights, 11 overnight stays, and four maiden ports, appealing to travellers who prefer the Pacific and European focus.

Michael Pawlus, head of itinerary planning at Azamara Cruises, highlighted the company’s philosophy of deeper destination engagement when announcing the new world cruise collection. The planning team has clearly prioritised quality time in port over simply maximising the number of destinations visited.
