UK Travel Agent Iona to Wed on P&O Cruises Ship Iona

Iona Ginn, a 31-year-old travel consultant from Hays Travel, is set to tie the knot on the P&O Cruises ship, Iona. After a recent visit to the ship, she knew it was the perfect venue for her wedding. Iona and her fiancé, Harley, who is 28, will exchange vows on 12th September 2027. Their wedding will take place during a seven-night cruise through the stunning Norwegian fjords.

A Ship Visit Sealed The Decision

Iona had been exploring various wedding options when P&O Cruises announced that couples could marry on their ships. During a ship visit last month, she was captivated by the atrium’s floor-to-ceiling windows and the abundance of natural light. “I just wanted to get married right there and then,” she said. Both Iona and Harley are cruise enthusiasts, so they decided to take the plunge. The ceremony will occur at sea before the ship docks in Stavanger, Norway. This itinerary is perfect for them, as none of their family members have visited the region before.

A Namesake Wedding At Sea

The P&O Cruises ship, Iona, began service in summer 2021 with a British Isles cruise, including a visit to the Scottish island of Iona. This personal connection adds a special touch to the bride-to-be’s wedding plans. “Sharing a name with the ship feels like it was meant to be,” Iona remarked. The wedding package offers excellent value, including the cake, flowers, hair, and make-up. The couple will enjoy a week-long celebration with their loved ones on board.

Sharing The Cruise Experience

As a travel agent, Iona’s experience has been invaluable in explaining the cruise experience to family and friends, many of whom are first-time cruisers. “It’s nice to share what their experience will be like,” she said. Her first-hand knowledge adds credibility and reassures guests. P&O Cruises’ associate vice president of sales and distribution, Ruth Venn, expressed delight that Iona chose her namesake ship for this unforgettable occasion.
