Ambassador Cruise Line has unveiled a four-night themed sailing that will transport passengers back to the 1970s, 1980s and 1990s, departing from the Port of Tyne on 22nd September 2026.
The “Decks & Decades… a 70s, 80s & 90s Celebration” voyage aboard Ambition promises live entertainment, era-specific dining experiences and three fancy-dress evenings dedicated to the music, fashion and cultural moments that defined these iconic decades.
The themed sailing has been specifically designed to reconnect guests with the songs, styles and shared cultural moments that helped define the seventies, eighties and nineties.
Ambassador Cruise Line has curated a comprehensive entertainment programme that celebrates the music, fashion, food and fun that characterised each era, creating an immersive experience for passengers who lived through these decades or simply appreciate the cultural impact they left behind.
The cruise line’s approach reflects a growing trend across the industry to offer more targeted, experiential voyages that go beyond traditional cruising.
Headline Acts To Bring Each Era To Life
Three guest acts will headline the entertainment programme, each representing a different decade of the celebration.
The Divettes will transport passengers back to the disco era of the 1970s, whilst Wild Boys will capture the synth-pop and new wave sounds that dominated the 1980s. Rounding out the entertainment lineup, 90s Rewind will recreate the Britpop, dance and alternative rock anthems that defined the final decade of the twentieth century.
These tribute acts have been carefully selected to provide authentic representations of each decade’s musical landscape. The performances will take place in Ambition’s entertainment venues, giving passengers multiple opportunities throughout the four-night sailing to experience live music that captures the essence of each era.
Beyond the headline acts, the entertainment programme will include themed quizzes testing passengers’ knowledge of trivia from all three decades, as well as cabaret performances inspired by the iconic variety shows and entertainment formats that were popular during these years.
The combination of live music, interactive entertainment and theatrical performances creates a multi-layered experience that appeals to different passenger preferences and engagement levels.
Themed Dining And Fancy Dress Evenings Add Authenticity
Ambassador has extended the decade-themed experience beyond entertainment to include specially designed menus that reflect the culinary trends and popular dishes of the 1970s, 1980s and 1990s.
These themed dining experiences will allow passengers to rediscover foods and flavours that were fashionable during each era, from 1970s fondue and prawn cocktails to 1980s nouvelle cuisine and 1990s fusion dishes.
